Dear sirs
I asked for help researching the naval history of AE Waghorn. I recieved an acknowlegement of this
with a ref. no. S12/689 on 20th November and was wondering how the research was progressing.

Dear Ms. Conroy,
Please accept my apologies for the length of time it has taken me to answer your enquiry.
I can tell you, from the uniform worn in both images that Albert Edward Waghorn was a bandsman
in the Royal Navy and then
in the Merchant Navy. I’ve attached a link to the history of the bandsman from the website of the
Royal Navy. They were part of the marines who, of course, were an integral part of the Royal Navy.
I hope that this is helpful.
